What is Cardio Tennis?

Cardio Tennis is a high energy fitness activity that combines the best features of the sport of tennis with cardiovascular exercise, delivering the ultimate, full body, calorie burning aerobic workout. It is a very social and fun class for players of all ability levels taught by a tennis teaching professional.

If you’ve never played tennis before it is a great way to be introduced to the sport and if you are an experienced high level tennis player it is the best way to train for tennis. Most classes have mixed ability and some facilities offer classes which are more specific to ability/fitness level. However, regardless of ability or fitness level the tennis professional is trained to provide the ultimate workout for each person.

A true cardio tennis workout is typically 6-8 players per court, using the agility ladder, transition balls, music and heart rate monitors

The purpose of Cardio Tennis

The purpose of Cardio Tennis is:

  • to train in your zones

  • to burn calories

  • to train for tennis

What are the benefits of Cardio Tennis?

Benefits of playing Cardio Tennis:

  • Participants are able to achieve their effective heart rate zones with ease because of the fun factor

  • You can burn more calories than singles or doubles and many other fitness options

  • Provides interval training scenario which is effective way to achieve heart health and fitness

  • It is a fun group activity where players of all ability levels enjoy tennis together

  • While you are “playing” tennis the primary focus is on getting a great workout

  • Fights the obesity crisis and offers a better fitness option for those who do not like to go to the gym

This is not your regular tennis clinic.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A CARDIO TENNIS SESSION...

A trained instructor will lead participants through an hour long session starting with a warm up, followed by the cardio segment that includes both drill- and play-based activities. Exercise music, low-compression balls and a variety of equipment, such as agility ladders are just a few ingredients of this heart-pumping program. At the end of the session following a cool down segment, participants can check stats from their heart-rate monitor to see the cardio health benefits that can be achieved even when fitness is fun!

Each one-hour session will have a minimum of two participants and a maximum of eight.
