JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAMS
Junior tennis at Tennis For Life is a developmental tennis academy designed to provide children ages 5-17, beginner through advanced, with a quality experience. Supervised by certified teaching professionals, our programs are taught in a positive and constructive manner to develop each child’s ability while learning the lifelong sport of tennis.
Session I: September 4 - October 27
Session II: October 30 - December 22
TOTS ages 5-8
Basic fundamentals are taught on smaller 36’ courts using slower red, low compression balls. Players will develop movement skills (agility, balance and coordination), along with sending and receiving skills such as rolling, tossing (underhand), throwing (overhand) and catching through fun, tennis-specific activities and games.
JUNIORS ages 7-17
ALL LEVELS. Players will be placed onto courts in groups based on ability level:
This group uses the 60’ courts and the orange low compression ball. Proper techniques for all the basic strokes in tennis are emphasized. Footwork, ball control and reaction time skills are developed.
This group uses the full 78’ court. Players should be ready to rally from the baseline. Live ball drills and games are used to prepare players for match play, with a continued focus on tactical and technical skills.
Advanced level tournament and high school team players. Court strategy, ball placement and shot selection are emphasized. Real game situations are used to help the players focus on different spins, court movement and stroke refinement.
